GGIF ("we", "our", "us") is a GIF search and sharing service. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using GGIF you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information we collect
Most of GGIF works without an account — searching and browsing are open to everyone. When you connect your Discord account, we receive your Discord user ID, username, and avatar from Discord's OAuth flow so we can identify you. We also collect basic usage data such as your search queries and pages visited to improve the service.
2. Data stored on your device
Your favorites, history, saved collections, theme preference, language choice, and reaction counts are stored locally in your browser's localStorage. This data stays on your device and is not sent to our servers. You can clear it at any time from the Settings page.
3. Cookies
We use a minimal set of cookies to remember your preferences and keep you signed in. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. You can control cookies through your browser settings or through the cookie banner on this site. See our Cookie Policy for details.
4. Third-party services
GIF search results are provided by Giphy and Openverse. When you search, your query is sent to these providers to retrieve GIFs. When you send a GIF, the Discord bot posts it on your behalf through the Discord API. We do not sell or share your personal information with third parties except as needed to run these features.
5. Data retention
We keep only the minimal data needed to run the service. Server-side data (such as Discord session identifiers) is kept only as long as necessary and can be removed by logging out. Locally stored data stays until you clear it yourself.
6. Your rights
You can access, correct, or delete the data associated with your account at any time. Because most of your data lives on your own device, clearing your browser storage is usually all it takes. For server-side data, contact us and we will process your request within 30 days.
7. Children's privacy
GGIF is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
